The Alpharetta City Band, under the direction of Bill Haynes , is a traditional community band made up of amateur musicians from the surrounding communities, and we invite those who play or have played a band instrument to take part. We are a wind band made up of brass, woodwind, and percussion instruments. We play a variety of music ranging from traditional marches to big band jazz. Our music tends to be on a high school level, but we try to vary the difficulty to balance the range of experience levels of our musicians. Maybe it has been years since you’ve played. That’s OK, just clean up the old horn – a pad or two, some reeds, a few drops of valve oil – and come to a few rehearsals. You don’t have to audition. It’ll come back to you, and you’ll have fun.
The Alpharetta City Band is sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department of the City of Alpharetta, Georgia. It is an on-going adult recreation program open to all adult musicians and to high school musicians with the approval of their band director. We rehearse weekly throughout the year on Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 at the Crabapple Government Center, 12624 BROADWELL ROAD. Its the southwest corner of the intersection of Crabapple Rd, Mayfield Rd., Broadwell Rd., and Birmingham Hwy. in Crabapple. Click here for a map.
